HP Pavillion x360 (11-k122ds)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been given an HP Pavillion x360 (11-k122ds), and it works fine on the supplied charger except for Windows reporting "no battery detected". This unit appears to be like most Android smartphones with inaccessable batteries.. Is there any fix, be it official or otherwise??

Thanks

Dave

@daveinlv,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Does the laptop shutdown right away if the charger is disconnected from the laptop?

Have you tried to use a different compatible charger and check if it helps?

Have you tried to update the Bios on your notebook?

Let's try re-installing the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.
2) Expand “Batteries”.
3) Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
4) Click on “Uninstall”.
5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
6) Shutdown the computer.
7) Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in.
8) When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
9) Go to Device Manager.
10) Expand Batteries.
11) Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software". Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

Also, try updating the computer -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Please note, if the Bios is not updated, please follow the link to download and install the latest Bios update from our HP support website, using this link.

HP Notebook PCs - Battery Not Detected

If the issue persists, Let's Run a battery test using F2 (during restart), if the test failed:

Check with an alternate battery.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

The system dies instantly when the charger/ac adapter is disconnected.

I do not have another ac adapter/charger available

The F2 diags "battery test" states "no battery installed" and I do not have another battery to test with.

Also, the link given for the bios update package gives a file named "sp97146.exe" and when run it states "This bios update is

not compatible with this device"....

Have not been able to do the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery reenable, as I cannot open the system at this

time to remove the battery.

The bios setup shows "Primary Battery SN - 38572 05/09/2015
