@markbtp1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your touchpad is not appearing in the Device Manager and is not functioning, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and reinstall the touchpad driver.

Step 1: Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes Windows updates can provide the necessary drivers for your hardware components.

  1. Search for and open "Check for updates" in the search box on the taskbar.
  2. Click "Check for Updates" and allow Windows to download and install any available updates.
  3. Restart your computer after installing the updates.

Step 2: Use HP Support Assistant

HP Support Assistant can help you find and install necessary driver updates.

  1. Search for and open "HP Support Assistant" in the search box on the taskbar.
  2. If it's not installed, download it from the HP Support Assistant page.
  3. Open HP Support Assistant, then go to the My Dashboard tab.
  4. Click on Updates and let it analyze the system for available updates.
  5. Select the updates, download, and install them, following any on-screen instructions.
  6. Restart your computer if prompted.

Step 3: Use Device Manager to Install Drivers

If the touchpad is disabled or missing, search for hardware changes.

  1. Search for and open "Device Manager".
  2. Click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  3. Try to identify the touchpad under "Unknown Devices" or any new category and update its driver if it appears.

Step 4: Reinstall the Touchpad Driver Manually

Here's how you can manually download and install the driver:

  1. Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page: HP Drivers Download.
  2. Enter your HP Pavilion x360 model number for precise results.
  3. Find the touchpad driver under "Driver-Chipset" section.
  4. Download and install the driver, following the instructions provided.

Step 5: Use HP Recovery Manager for Driver Reinstallation

If the driver still does not appear or work, use HP Recovery Manager:

  1. Search for "Recovery Manager" in the search box.
  2. Go to Advanced Options and select Hardware Driver Reinstallation.
  3. Search for the touchpad driver and follow the instructions.

Step 6: Restart Your Computer

Once done, restart your computer and check if the touchpad is functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
