No longer supporting Microsoft Word

Hi so I bought a HP chromebook last year for university. I use Microsoft word on it a lot, and I signed up with my university account to get this. 

I’m a little confused because I tried to click on the word app, and it now says “We’re no longer supporting or updating this version of the office app. For the best up to date experience on this device switch to Office.com” 

I just wanted to check before I buy word, that If I buy Microsoft word for a year I can use it on my HP chromebook right?

I believe it's still not working 😞 It just takes me back to the app on my chromebook, and comes up with the exact same message.

Okay, I've managed to make the online version work thankfully!
