Hi @DG182,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for reaching out, and I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when you were expecting an Office Professional with lifetime use.
To help clarify and get this checked properly, I’ll explain how Microsoft Office works on HP PCs and then ask for a few details from you.
How Microsoft Office works on HP laptops
- Most HP laptops come with a trial version of Microsoft Office (Microsoft 365) preinstalled.
- This trial usually works for a limited time and then asks for payment.
- Office Professional (lifetime / perpetual license) is only included if it was:
- Explicitly listed on your invoice/order confirmation, or
- Purchased as a bundle or add-on at the time of buying the laptop.
- If Office Professional was not included as a paid add-on, Windows will still show Office apps, but they will prompt you to activate or purchase a license.
What we need to verify
To check whether your laptop was supposed to include Office Professional or only a trial, please share:
- HP laptop model/product number
- Where the laptop was purchased (HP Store, retailer, company IT purchase, etc.)
- If possible, confirm whether Microsoft Office Professional is mentioned on your invoice or order details
Once we have this information, we can:
- Confirm whether Office Professional should be included
- Guide you on activating it (if already entitled)
- Advise on next steps if it was bundled but not activated correctly
Please share the laptop model details, and we’ll take it from there.
Take care and have an amazing day!
