I wish to operate my laptop with the lid closed to prevent dust getting in. The picture is begin forwarded to a monitor so I don't need the laptop's screen. How can I set it up so it doesn't shut off automatically

Hi,

 

If you go into power options in control panel. (right-click on battery symbol in lower right of desktop in taskbar and click on Power Options.

In the Window that opens click on "Choose what closing the lid does" in list on left and then set the option to " do nothing" when plugged in or on battery.
