Pavilion 15 notebook running windows 8.1 graphics driver update struggles

Hi all, Happy new year. Hope we are staying positive and testing negative. 

As my previous post said, I bought my pavilion 15 notebook a few years ago but never got around to setting it up. 

Anyhow beginning of December I set it up for general use and found it slow as I often have 10 or more tabs open (I'm not being lazy I need this many for work). So I upgraded to 16gb of RAM and a 1tb of SSD which worked great. It also gets use for casual gaming (Runescape, minecraft etc) but it also struggles with these, I know I can't upgrade the graphics card on here as I'm under the impression it doesn't have one. Upgrading my graphics drivers, would that work? If so, how do I go about that on windows 8.1 I've had a go but can't figure it out.

I've also been using the software "AdvancedSystemCare" to help keep the pc clean and delete unused and leftover files, it also restricts backgroup apps for when I'm gaming. 

Does anyone else have any other reccomendations for me that could help with the PC whilst running the games?

I don't know if it will make a great difference in your notebook's graphics performance but...

Here is a way that you can manually update your notebook's Intel HD graphics driver to the latest version from Intel...

First, create a system restore point so that you can roll back to the current graphics driver you have installed, just in case the updated driver does not work to your expectations.

Next, download and save the latest Intel HD graphics driver 64 bit ZIP file (3rd one on the left) for the Intel HD graphics adapter:

This is the latest driver as of 10/23/2020:  Version: 15.40.47.5166

Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.40]

Unzip the graphics driver file to its folder. Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

To unzip the file, right click on the graphics driver zip file you downloaded, and select Extract All.

Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category

Click on the Intel HD graphics adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to the unzipped graphics driver folder>Graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), click Next, and the driver should install.

Be patient, as it can take a few minutes for the driver to completely install.

When the installation is finished, restart the PC.

To update the Intel HDMI audio driver to the latest version, go to the device manager, click to expand the Sound, video and game controllers device manager category.

Click on the Intel HD audio device listed there.   Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the unzipped Intel graphics driver main folder.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver will install.

Then restart the PC.

If you install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA), after you manually install the driver, it should in the future, automatically install the latest graphics and HDMI audio drivers without having to do the manual install.
