Hi Everyone,
I just finished (well, almost) rebuilding a client Pavilion DM-1 netbook. I have installed Windows Pro 64 bit and all drivers but one. It is showing in device manager as an unknown device. It has a hardware ID or ACPI\HPQ0004. In my past experience in the shop, this is the HP ProtectSmart hard drive protection. I cannot find the driver for this anywhere on the HP site.
I have never had an issue installing this driver before on newer systems. I see that on the more recent machines, it is called 3D DriveGuard protection software. I have tried to install this software but I get the message that there are no 3D DriveGuard accelerometers present.
I did some googling and found that the older version is called ProtectSmart hard drive protection. I found old links to HPs ftp site but they were all dead. I did track down the software and installed it. It could not finish and I found out it needed to have .net 3.5 installed. I installed the .net framework and tried reinstalling the ProtectSmart but it bombs out. It almost completes and then I get the message that the install cannot complete.
If anyone has any suggestions, ideas, thoughts, or input I would love to hear them. Thank you all in advance, for the time! Have a great day!
Respectfully,
George D.
