Hi @Rix1330,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. What is the exact HP laptop model?
  2. Which version of Windows are you running?
  3. When you go to Device Manager → Imaging devices / Cameras, does the camera appear at all, or is it completely missing?
  4. Are there any error codes or warning symbols next to the camera in Device Manager?

Troubleshooting steps to try

  1. Check BIOS camera settings
    • Reboot the laptop and enter BIOS (usually F10 at startup)
    • Look for any setting related to the integrated camera or webcam and ensure it is enabled
    • Save and exit BIOS
  2. Use Device Manager to reinstall the driver
    • Open Device Manager → Imaging Devices or Cameras
    • If the camera appears, right-click → Uninstall device (check “Delete the driver software for this device” if prompted)
    • Reboot and let Windows attempt to reinstall the driver automatically
  3. Run the HP Support Assistant full scan
    • Even if the tool says everything is OK, running a full system scan can sometimes detect missing or misconfigured camera drivers after a BIOS update
  4. Check for Windows Optional Updates
    • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update → Optional Updates
    • Look under Driver Updates; sometimes HP camera drivers are delivered via Windows Update rather than HP’s website
  5. Try the Microsoft generic camera driver
    • In Device Manager → Imaging Devices → right-click → Update driver → Browse my computer → Let me pick from a list
    • Choose USB Video Device or Microsoft Camera as a fallback driver
  6. Check privacy settings
    • Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
    • Ensure camera access is allowed and apps have permission

      I hope this helps.
