HP Laptop PC 14-d2000 (2D126AV)

Ran cmd>powercfg -energy. Got 5 errors and 1 warning.

CPU Utilization:Processor utilization is high
The average processor utilization during the trace was high. The system will consume less power when the average processor utilization is very low. Review processor utilization for individual processes to determine which applications and services contribute the most to total processor utilization.
Average Utilization (%)17.15
Platform Power Management Capabilities:ACPI _CPC Object Failed Validation
There is a problem with the definition of the ACPI _CPC object on this computer. Installing the latest system firmware (BIOS) may resolve this issue.

Hi @SSC_CM,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing the details. You’re seeing two main issues from the powercfg -energy report on your HP Laptop PC 14-d2000 (2D126AV):

1. High CPU Utilization (17.15%)

This means your system is using more power than expected when idle. It’s not critical, but it can reduce battery life.

Fix:

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • Sort by CPU usage and identify any background apps using high CPU.
  • Disable unnecessary startup apps via Startup tab.
  • Consider running: powercfg /batteryreport

to get a full battery usage report.

2. ACPI _CPC Object Failed Validation

This is related to power management features in BIOS/firmware. Even though your BIOS is up to date (F.39), HP Website only has F.38 listed as the latest driver. This error suggests a firmware-level ACPI table issue.

Fix Options:

  1. Reset BIOS Settings:
    • Enter BIOS (press F10 at startup).
    • Choose Restore Defaults or Load Optimized Defaults.
    • Save and exit.

  2. Check for Chipset Driver Updates:
  3. Check Windows Power Plan:
    • Use Balanced or HP Recommended plan.
    • Avoid aggressive third-party power plans.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
