I'm getting an error: HP Accelerometer "can't run on this device." Win 10, HP Envy 17.3" laptop. Most help pages advise uninstalling or installing/reinstalling HP 3D Drive Guard. Can't do that, because the hardware underlying drive guard doesn't exist. So I just tried this install and it didn't work. Any registry hacks I can try?

Hi:

 

If your notebook has the 3D driveguard hardware, there will be a device in the device manager under the System Devices category, labeled as a HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor.

 

If you see that device, please post the hardware ID for it so I can figure out what hardware version of the accelerometer your notebook comes with...there are 3 different versions...HPQ0004, HPQ6000 and HPQ6007.

My laptop doesn't have the 3D DriveGuard Hardware. I reset from my recovery partition, and this is what happened. Now I get an effing annoying popup every time I log in. The popup says: "This app can't run on this device. HP Accelerometer" Problem is, I Can't get rid of the annoying popup. Because there's no 3D drive guard hardware, Windows won't let me run the uninstall program. So how do I get rid of the annoying popup, short of taking a sledge hammer to the brand new laptop. Sorry, but I've been working on this for three days and many hours, and none of the online help is all that useful. They all say uninstall the 3D driveguard program, and Windows won't let me.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what you can do to fix the problem other than to clean install W10 by making bootable USB installation media with the media creation tool.

 

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

 

That way there won't be any HP software installed, and after W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

 

Beats using a sledge hammer (no pun intended).
