I feel this is highly irresponsible of HP. Even if they won't provide support for an old computer, they should at least leave the drivers and BIOS, etc available for download. I believe the current problems with my MIL's laptop was due a recent BIOS change via Windows Update, which has now rendered the machine unbootable. It gets stuck in the 'Preparing Automatic Repair' and even trying to boot off a Windows Recovery USB fails. I suspect if I could create a bootable BIOS update (to the older version) I could get this system working again. Now, was this a mistake or an intentional move by HP to brick a bunch of old laptops and force us to purchase new laptops? You can bet I am not replacing the old one with an HP going forward, and I encourage everyone else with a broken laptop (which can't be recovered due to HP deleting the tools that would help us) to consider the same.

In my case I need the BIOS for a Pavilion 15z-ab000.

You can fix the problem by going into the BIOS, find the TPM setting and change it to Disabled/Hidden.

If you feel the need to update the BIOS afterward, below are the info and exe links to the last BIOS update HP released for the model series:
