Just purchased an Omen 17" laptop with a numeric keyboard.  Had no idea of the keyboard layout until I unboxed.  Now I find unless keys (Omen Gaming Hub/Calculator) have replaced extremely useful keys (Home/End).

I've tried PowerToys and even the keybinding app in the Omen Gaming Hub, but there aren't any options to change those two keys.

How remap these keys???

Please Help!!!

Hi @Jamestrin

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. After unboxing a new OMEN 17 and discovering that the dedicated OMEN Gaming Hub and Calculator keys have replaced the traditional Home and End keys, it can take away functionality that many users rely on for navigation and productivity. I appreciate that you've already explored PowerToys and the key assignment options within OMEN Gaming Hub.

Based on the current design for OMEN notebooks, the dedicated OMEN Gaming Hub and Calculator keys are implemented as special hardware function keys rather than standard keyboard scan codes. Beca/use of this, they are not typically exposed as remappable keys through OMEN Gaming Hub, Windows keyboard settings, or standard key remapping tools.

There are a few HP-supported options you can check:

Verify OMEN Gaming Hub and BIOS Updates

  • Open HP Support Assistant and install all recommended updates.
  • Check for the latest BIOS update for your OMEN 17.
  • Update OMEN Gaming Hub through the Microsoft Store. Occasionally, newer firmware or software releases add keyboard customization features.

Review Keyboard Settings in OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub.
  • Navigate to Keyboard or Lighting settings (if available for your model).
  • Check whether your specific OMEN keyboard supports key reassignment. Some OMEN models support limited customization, while others only allow lighting and macro configuration.

Use Existing Home/End Functions On many OMEN laptops without dedicated Home and End keys, Windows navigation can often be performed through alternative key combinations:

  • Fn + Left Arrow = Home
  • Fn + Right Arrow = End
  • Fn + Up Arrow = Page Up
  • Fn + Down Arrow = Page Down

Check the Keyboard User Guide

  • Visit HP Customer Support.
  • Open the User Guide for your exact OMEN 17 model.
  • Review the keyboard layout section for alternate Home/End key assignments designed into the hardware.

If the OMEN Gaming Hub and Calculator keys do not generate standard keyboard scan codes, they generally cannot be reassigned to Home and End through HP software. In that situation, the built-in Fn key combinations become the intended method for accessing those functions.

Could you share the exact OMEN 17 model number (for example, OMEN 17-dbxxxx, 17-ckxxxx, 17-cmxxxx, etc.)? That would allow us to verify the specific keyboard layout and identify the HP-supported Home and End key equivalents for that model.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
