Is there no solution for this? Aslo, see https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/AI-PCs/Typing-Some-Key-Combinations-involving-FN-on-HP-Omnibook/td-p/9... for related issue

Hi @johnt28,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the issue with key combinations!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
1. Use On-Screen Keyboard
- Open the On-Screen Keyboard by pressing Win + Ctrl + O.
- Use the Home key from there along with Ctrl or Shift to complete the desired shortcut.
2. Try Different Key Press Orders
- Some HP laptops require Fn to be pressed last. Try pressing:
- Ctrl → Fn → Left Arrow (instead of pressing all together).
3. Enable "Fn Lock" (if available)
- Some HP models allow Fn Lock, which makes the function keys behave like standard keys.
- To enable Fn Lock:
- Try Fn + Esc (This might toggle Fn key behavior).
- If successful, you may now be able to press Ctrl + Left Arrow to trigger Ctrl + Home.
4. Modify Function Key Behavior in BIOS
- If the Fn key is still interfering, try changing its behavior in the BIOS settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter BIOS by pressing Esc or F10 at startup.
- Look for an option related to Function Key Behavior or Action Keys Mode.
- If available, disable "Action Keys Mode" (so function keys work normally).
- Save changes and restart.
5. Use a Keyboard Remapping Tool (Advanced)
- If nothing works, tools like SharpKeys or AutoHotkey can remap keys and allow you to manually create a Ctrl + Home shortcut.
Let me know if further assistance is needed! 😊

Thank you for putting in an effort to help me. Unfortunately though, your suggestions does not work for me for a couple of different reasons.
Option 1) This causes the input focus to me moved to a new window, so I cannot use it to select text in windows.
Option 2) This does not work on my laptop, I get the same behavior when pressing "Ctrl → Fn → Left Arrow" and "Fn → Ctrl → Left Arrow"
Option 3) My laptop has Fn lock, but the problem exists regardless if the lock is enabled or not.
Option 4) My bios is able to change the default behavior for function keys, (F1, ..., F12). I have tried to toggle this option, the problem exists regardless of the BIOS setting.
Option 5) Are these tools officially supported by HP? Nonetheless, which key combination do you suggest I would replace it with?
My suggestion: Let your systems developers know about the issue, and askthem to develop an update for the BIOS so the Fn key can be combined with more than a single key.

Hi, did you find any solution about this? I have same problem too. When i try to use Shift+Home which is home key assinged as Fn key on F12 it doesnt work but i can use it with Fn Lock enable first then Shift+Fn+Home when i do that i have to Fn unlock again to use default Home button again. Its really annoying.
