Help Please.  Shift keys only work with certain keys.

Right  shift key with work with some letters but not others.  Left shift key is the same.   However, neither shift key will work with the symbols above the number keys.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi Treeko,

Thanks for reaching out.  Sorry I was so long getting back to you but Outlook put your response in spam.

I have an HP Envy Laptop, model DESKTOP-O1V9LBH.  Left shift key works with some letters and right shift key works with the others but neither works with the symbols on the number keys.

Let me know if you need any further info.

Thanks again

Shirley

Update the Bios, chipset, and drivers using HP Support Assistant to fix the issue.

Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here

  • HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
  • Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  • Click Updates in the My notebook pane
  • Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  • Updates list in HP Support Center
  • Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  • Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  • Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

  • Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for reaching out.  I checked for updates on HPSA but there are none.  Also, other than still being Windows 10, I have run all the updates for windows as well.

Any other suggestions?
