Hi everyone. I bought a HP laptop 15-fd0383TU on 11/4/2025 and wanted to know if it has smart charging. Charging the laptop to 80%. I did see the heart symbol on the battery icon in the task bar when I first plugged it in and set it up. But I haven't seen the heart symbol on the battery icon since the first charge. I did mess around with the battery settings like Dark mode and set the power mode for best energy efficiency so I am not sure if I have accidentally turned off smart charging while messing with these settings. I have charged the laptop about 4 times now but haven't seen the heart symbol on the battery icon again. I want my laptop to stop charging at 80% so my battery lasts longer. If anyone could please guide me through a process to turn it back on would be really appreciated.

Hi @Trbogm
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like you're looking to re-enable the smart charging feature on your HP laptop 15-fd0383TU to limit charging to 80%. Here's how you can check and enable this feature:
1. Check for Smart Charging in HP Support Assistant
- Open the HP Support Assistant app on your laptop.
- Navigate to the Battery section and look for options like Battery Health Manager or Smart Charging.
- Enable the feature, which allows limiting the battery charge to 80% to preserve battery life.
2. Enable Smart Charging in BIOS
- Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly during startup to access the BIOS settings.
- Look for options under the Configuration or Advanced tab, such as Adaptive Battery Optimizer or Battery Care Function.
- If available, set the feature to Enabled or configure it to stop charging at 80%.
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS.
3. Update HP Software and Drivers
- Visit the HP Support page for your laptop model and check for updates to the HP Support Assistant, BIOS, and battery management software.
- Install any available updates to ensure compatibility and functionality.
4. Restore Default Battery Settings
- If you suspect the settings were accidentally changed, you can restore the default battery settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery.
- Reset the power mode to Balanced or Best Performance and check if the heart symbol reappears.
