Spectre X2 Detachable
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey there,

A couple nights ago the touchpad on my Spectre X2 stopped working. I have a feeling that a driver might be missing as I can't find one running on my computer, but I'm not overly capable at computers so I might just be looking over it. I tried downloading a driver from the HP drivers page but there were no drivers available for the touchpad, so I'm just wondering if it could possibly be something else. I did end up finding a link to a driver on the forums, and my touchpad worked for about 30 seconds after I installed it and then stopped working again.

My laptop is a Spectre X2 Detachable

Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit

Product Number: 12-a002AU

Thanks in advance.

Hello @ah1995,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums!

I understand that the touchpad on your HP Spectre x2 12-a002au is not functioning. Since the touchpad did temporarily work when you installed the driver, it isn't likely a hardware issue.

Please begin troubleshooting with a hard reset. Once the notebook is back on, follow the steps from these touchpad document:

HP Notebook PCs - Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)

Be sure to post back with the results!

This worked. Thank you!

I have the same problem and the touchpad/clickpad does not work from the start. In the Mouse setting under additional mouse option, there is no touchpad or clickpad tab at the top. It ends with hardware tab

Morning,

I'm experiencing the same issue on the touchpad of our Spectre x2 Pro.

I'm reading what the gentleman suggested. We're happy to perform this "hard reset" but how can we be sure we're not going to lose some data / create any additional problem on the pc?

Thanks a lot,

Pier

Thanks for your reply. I brought it back to the store and they checked it and agreed it is a faulty product and i got a new replacement. I insisted they opened the new package, set it up to check it is working before i take it home.
