Hello @RuleTheGalaxy,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand that you are having an issue with the Star Wars applications, and wanted to assist you!

Did you create Recovery Media for your product, before replacing the Hard Drive, with the SSD?  If not, then you may need Recovery Media in order to get all the original drivers that shipped with the notebook.  You can find Recovery Media for your product here:

Star Wars Special Edition Notebook - 15t-an000 CTO

Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as  "Accept as Solution, this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks!

I'm sure the recovery media would fix the solution, but I would rather avoid that since it contains so much bloatware.  I'd like to be able to manually recover the system.  Since the Star Wars stuff is available as a seperate download, we should be able to restore it using those install files.

Hello @SabreOfSD,

Thank you for the quick reply!

If you prefer not to use Recovery Media, then you can try reinstalling the specific files, with the Recovery Manager.  This document may help:

HP PCs - Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 10)

I hope this helps.

I didn't make a recovery cd. So I have basically no way of getting my Star Wars content back? Why is it possible to even download the Star Wars command center from HP website - and then it doesn't work...on a HP Star Wars computer!

Hello @RuleTheGalaxy,

Thank you for the quick reply!

There should be a way to get that content back by using Recovery Media.  If you do not have Recovery Media, then please see the link I sent, in my original post to you.  It seems that the software was intended to work with that hardware that came with the notebook.  Since you replaced the hardware, this may be why you are having issues with the software.  This is why I suggest reinstalling the original software back on the system, with the Recovery Media.  Also, as I mentioned in my post to @SabreOfSD, you can try using the Recovery Manager as well.  I hope this helps.

Regards!

This is my computer:

 http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/Star-Wars-Special-Edition-15-an000-Notebook/9033381/model/925650...

I reinstalled Windows 10 on a new SSD. Fresh install. So I have no recovery media and no HP recovery manager.

Before I did this - I checked out the HP support website for my computer and there all the Star Wars content is listed for download. That is why I assumed I did't need to have a physical copy of the files myself at home (I live in Iceland by the way)

Are you saying that the only way to get my Star Wars content (which i already paid for!) is to order a dvd recovery disc by mail? And pay for it to?

Hello @RuleTheGalaxy,

Thank you for the quick reply!

As I stated in my previous post, it seems that the software is intended for the hardware that shipped with the notebook.  When replacing hardware, there is always a chance that software may not function as it should.

I went through a process I did NOT want to go through.

- I took the laptop apart (again) and reinstalled the 1000gb slow hard drive.

- Booted the computer up and it took a while - Windows had to automatically check/fix the hard drive. But it booted up and I managed to create a recovery media on a USB stick.

- Next I put the new Samsung 250gb EVO (850) SSD back in the laptop and booted into the USB recovery media I just made.

Here comes the annoying part: I had to reinstall everything. Not just the Star Wars stuff. And it took about seven hours!

After that process had finally finished - I had to get the Windows November update (version 1511) again. It is installing now. (the computer ships with the old version of Windows 10)

The Star Wars content works now. But seriously HP! You make it so difficult to just put in a modern SSD hard drive and have the Star Wars content back and working.

And for the future I am cloning the hard drive and keeping in an iso file so I can just clone it back to the SSD if I am ever gonna need a fresh install.
