I bought a new replacement battery from the HP Parts Surfer. While it's better than my old one, I feel like I should be getting more battery life out of it as this new one lasts around 2 to 2 and a half hours. I've seen a lot of forums talking about uninstalling and reinstalling battery drivers and many people respond saying that it has improved their battery life. However, every forum I see has a different set of steps to doing it, even from official HP representatives. They all pertain to deleting "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and restarting the computer, but some go as far as removing the battery or holding the power button for a certain amount of time. I just want to know if there's a specific way of doing it.

Hi @Gairyy,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To uninstall and reinstall battery drivers for a new battery on an HP Pavilion laptop, you can follow these steps.
- Shut down your HP Pavilion laptop and disconnect it from any power source.
- Close the lid and turn the laptop over so that the bottom side is facing up.
- Locate the battery release latch or switch and slide it to the "Unlock" or "Open" position. This will release the battery from its compartment.
- Gently remove the old battery from the laptop and set it aside.
- Insert the new battery into the battery compartment, ensuring that it is properly aligned and securely in place.
- Close the battery compartment and lock it using the latch or switch.
- Flip the laptop back over and open the lid.
- Power on your HP Pavilion laptop.
- Once your laptop has booted up and you are logged in to your operating system, press the "Windows" key + "X" key on your keyboard to open the power user menu.
- From the power user menu, select "Device Manager" to open the Device Manager window.
- In the Device Manager window, expand the "Batteries" category by clicking on the arrow next to it.
- Right-click on the battery driver listed (it is usually named "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery") and select "Uninstall device" from the context menu.
- A confirmation dialog will appear asking if you want to uninstall the driver. Check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device" and click "Uninstall."
- Wait for the driver to be uninstalled. You may need to restart your laptop after the uninstallation process is complete.
- After your laptop restarts, the battery drivers will be reinstalled automatically. You can verify this by going back to the Device Manager, expanding the "Batteries" category, and checking if the battery driver is listed again.
By following these steps, you should be able to uninstall and reinstall the battery drivers for a new battery on your HP Pavilion laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I followed the steps, and I assume it worked because the battery component reappeared in the device manager. I'm not sure if it improved my battery life like many other people have claimed, but thank you for the help.
