Hello @Legion11

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thank you for posting.

1. Double check the permissions on the folder

2. Try "turning back time" by using System Restore in Windows in an attempt to fix the issue. Please, restore back to previous days (restore point) where the issue was not present. Here is more info:

If you performed the above steps and only after successful System Restore, try these steps:

Go to Start -> Control Panel >> Region

Change your Region to United States of America (USA).

Set your language to USA English.

Save the changes.

Ensure your time/clock is correct and that timezone is also correct.

Restart your PC, ensure active Internet connection and try again to start it.

With regards to your problem, you can run this Microsoft program as automatic Windows Store and Windows Modern apps troubleshooter:

- Try WSReset tool >> http://www.thewindowsclub.com/reset-windows-store-cache

or some other steps you could try as general troubleshooting - usually helps - link above.

- If the above didn't help and was performed, here are some other things to consider:

The above steps usually help. Sometimes, the issue is with the user account (either local or Microsoft one). If nothing else helps, new account may need to be created eventually and your exisiting data/profile migrated.  Please, provide your feedback, let me know how it goes.

Thanks for replying IT_WinSec. I just ran the troubleshooter & it found out the follwing problem-" Service registration is missing or corrupt". The trobleshooter did reset the sevice registration but the problem was not fixed.

Changing the timezone & region did not help either. I tried resetting the apps but that didn't do anything except change the names of the apps to something weird like Photos was changed to ms-resource:AppFriendlyName,Films & TV to ms-resource:IDS_MANIFEST_VIDEO_APP_NAME. Moreover Microsoft Store has suddenly disappeared from App & Features.

Hi,

My initial suggestion was to use System Restore and restore back to a previous point. Did you use it ? Considering the latest news that it even disappeared, restoring back to a known good state would be beneficial.

I did perform system restore but it did not help as the furtest restore point was of three days back but as far as I remember this problem has been present since the last week.

@Legion11

Let's test if this is something about your user profile. Windows is used by users and each and every user can have their own space known as Windows Account where the personal settings and files are not messed up with other users' accounts.

Read this article >here< and follow the instructions to create a new local user account.

Once the account is created *and* while still in the original account,   please click on the Start button, search for and type CMD and open the Command Prompt app. In there, please type logoff and hit [ENTER] from the keyboard and you will log off from your account

Your Windows login screen may look like this:

Make sure you select the new user account and log into it.

Once you are in the new profile, note that you will not see your previous account's Desktop and personal files  (until you are back into the original account). While in the new account, ensure you are connected to the Internet and try to open the Store and Modern/Metro/Windows 10 apps.

Let me know if you are able to open them from there.

To log back into the original account, open CMD, typle logoff and log back in there.
