I have a HP Pavilion x360 15 inch I got back in 2022. A month or so ago I started noticing the fan kicking into high gear more than usual and it starting to smell weird. It was a very sweet chemical smell. I was able to track it to the vents on the laptop, so I know it was coming from the laptop itself. I didn't have a back up and ended up having to get a new computer out of desperation, but would like to know what went wrong with the laptop since I can't take it to Best Buy because i purchased it directly from the HP site. Once I started noticing the smell I immediately stopped using it fearing it could be a potential hazard. I've seen a few other people saying something similar happened with their Pavilion x360s, but I couldn't reply to their posts, and they weren't given a direct answer on their posts. I would at least like to know what's wrong and if this is a common issue. I highly doubt it has anything to do with the age of the laptop, especially if this issue seems to be something people even a few years ago have been having with these models.

Hi @ChrissyCat92,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for reaching out and for describing your experience so clearly — we completely understand how unsettling it must have been to notice that sudden sweet, chemical smell and hear the fan running louder than usual. You did the right thing by stopping use immediately.
What you described could point to an issue with the thermal system, possibly involving the battery or internal circuitry, especially since heat and unusual Odors were present. We want to reassure you that safety is a top priority at HP
If your Pc is in warranty, HP can get the pc repaired, OR first, we can run a few tests to check the components causing the issue so we can get it fixed.
Let me know
Take care and have a good day.

I'm pretty sure the warranty is no longer good and I honestly don't trust the laptop enough to turn it back on for any checks. The smell was getting so bad I was starting to get nauseous, so I'd rather not risk putting my health potentially at risk for the check up. I do appreciate the response though.
