HP Stream Laptop 11-Y0XX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been trying everything I can to reduce the amount of disc space used on this laptop, but since I haven't added ANYTHING, I don't know where to begin. I've done disc cleanup several times (which takes hours) and there aren't any apps or programs that allow me to uninstall. Most of the space used is for the Windows operating system and drivers. I have NOTHING else on this laptop!! According to the Windows update info there's something called "storage sense" to help, but I can't locate it on my system even by searching. Apparently I have until Apr 10/18 to get this Windows update done or risk losing it. The other thing that Windows info has indicated is that there should be an option to download the updates only a USB or micro SD card. Mine does't give that option and I have both a 32 GB micro SD and 64 GB USB inserted when trying and nothing comes up. What is the point of this laptop if it can't even handle having the operating system on it?????? I was going to try a factory reset, but can't even do that. I can't find the option for factory reset at all. I did find a reset of sorts, but for whatever reason, it requires 5 GB to process, which I think I'm down to about 100mb left on this hard drive. I'm at a loss as to what I can do. This laptop is obviously for someone who doesn't need to add any apps or games and doesn't go online to have any risk to security (which I will now apparently). Can anyone help me???

"This laptop is obviously for someone who doesn't need to add any apps or games and doesn't go online to have any risk to security (which I will now apparently)"  Yes, that is pretty accurate. It is about as entry level as it gets.

The Stream products only have 32GB of eMMC memory. That is just barely enough to install Windows 10 and definitely not enough capacity to do a whole lot more.

Follow the instructions at the following  thread.

What you need to do is install the current version of Windows 10. Save the files you don't want to lose to your sd media card or a flash drive.

Hi

I downloaded the windows 10 image from Microsoft with Media Creation Tool

Hooked up external DVD

installed windows fresh... I deleted all the existing partions on the 30GB drive

After the installs I had 17GB free.

Also I added a 64GB Micro SD .  Then I pointed the user files to that.

What a useless reply.

Why on earth do you have to reboot windows to update

Something this complicated scares the hell out of me, all I want is to create the space to upddate but the stupid computer insists on using the main hard drive despite rthe fact there is 2 tb of space avaiable on external drives.

Why are HP produc ts so useless, this one was a gift but so far it is worse than a hangnail

Is it not possible to get the computer to accept the spare 2Tb drive. I have tried all the suggestions but come up defeated everytime.

HP never again for me.
