I am currently facing an issue with my HP laptop's touchpad, it is not working after updating the Windows 11. My device is running Windows 11; however, I am unable to find the appropriate version or model listed on the HP support website to download the correct touchpad drivers. I kindly request assistance in identifying and providing the suitable touchpad drivers for my laptop. If needed, I can share additional details such as the laptop's serial number or hardware ID. Your support in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Sanamhari,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. The issue you're facing with the touchpad not working after a Windows 11 update is commonly linked to a corrupted or missing I2C HID driver or touchpad driver.

Here’s how to fix it step by step:

1. Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices, or Mice and other pointing devices
  3. Look for:
    • I2C HID Device
    • HID-compliant touchpad
    • Synaptics/ELAN/Precision Touchpad

If any of these show a yellow warning or are missing, continue with the steps below.

2. Update or Reinstall the Driver

  1. Right-click the I2C HID Device or Touchpad device
  2. Select Update driver > Search automatically
  3. If that fails, try:
    • Uninstall device
    • Restart your PC (Windows may reinstall it automatically)

3. Download the Correct Driver from HP

  1. Go to the Official HP® Support
  2. Enter your laptop’s model number (you can find it by pressing Windows + R, typing msinfo32, and checking System Model)
  3. Select Windows 11 (64-bit) as the OS
  4. Download and install the Touchpad or I2C HID driver

If your model uses SynapticsELAN, or Precision Touchpad, the driver will be listed under Driver – Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices.

4. Enable Touchpad in Settings

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad
  • Make sure the touchpad is enabled

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
