The touchscreen isn't working on this notebook, and in another post the solution was to download and install the Serial IO driver.
I have downloaded the Serial IO driver from here.
However, when I run the install I get "platform not supported". Somebody has screwed up here because I have downloaded the driver from the right page and it has failed.

Hi@EdSyrett, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I see from your post that you're having issues with the touchscreen not working properly on your HP Pavilion notebook. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.
In this scenario, I would suggest here is to follow these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the notebook:
Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:
1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.
If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.
2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.
The next thing, I would suggest here is to Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -
Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.
Now try to perform a Windows update:
1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
If the issue still persists, I would suggest here is to update the Bios, chipset and graphics card drivers on your computer from HP Support Assistant Updates -
1) In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

I have now completed all the steps that were recommended, and there still isn't a driver present for the touchscreen.
I ran the HP Support Assistant and that found an update for one device driver, HP Wireless Button Driver and that seemed to install ok.
But I still don't have a driver for any touchscreen under Human Interface Devices in Device Manager.
Thanks,
Ed.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Have a great day!
