Some time ago, i cracked the screen on my HP Pavillion x360, it basically had made the laptop impossible to use due to excess pressure on the screen where the crack was due to the touchpad.
A family member helped me disable the touchpad completely, and after some much needed updating, my laptop worked fine.
about a week ago, due to some crashing on a video game i was playing, i did a reset on my laptop. The reset turned the touchpad back on, and even though I've gone into the settings and such it off, the touchpad is still active whenever you touch the screen.
how do I disable the touchpad entirely again, so I don't continue to have issues caused by the crack in my screen?

Hi @Meg022818,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for explaining the situation, since your HP Pavilion x360 Laptop - 14m-dw0013dx has a cracked touchscreen and the touch input is causing issues, disabling the touch functionality entirely (not just the touchpad) is the best solution.
Steps to Disable Touchscreen Input (Not Just Touchpad)
1. Disable Touchscreen via Device Manager
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices.
- Look for an HID-compliant touch screen.
- Right-click it and choose Disable device.
- Confirm and restart your laptop.
This disables the touchscreen input, preventing accidental touches from the cracked area.
To Disable Touchpad (if still needed)
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Toggle Touchpad to Off.
- Alternatively, press Fn + F6 or Fn + Touchpad icon key (varies by model).
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
