HI,
I`m using win 11 on my hardware for ~2y. No issues until ~Jan this year (2025).
My Touchpad sporadically didn`t work. I`ve figured out, that in the device manager the "I2C HID driver" had a little waring symbol and error code 10. Disabling the driver and reactivation did solve it.
Until ~1month (May/2025) this workaround doesn't solve the issue any longer. The I2C HID device driver is permanently in error code 10 and a new device driver installation isn't changing anything. Of course I've as well checked the Hardware itself. In case I boot my laptop in bios mode, I'm able to move the cursor by using the touchpad! Consequently, the Hardware is OK and the issue is purely located in the WIN11 device driver.
A deep search in google does indicate that this issue is observed by several others as well, but no sustaining solution is mentioned. The driver uninstall/install method is proposed, but as mentioned it isn't any longer successful for me.
Looking forward for any support to find a device driver suitable for this Touchpad or solving the issue with my generic "I2C HDI driver" by Microsoft.
BTW: Win11 is up to date and HP doesn't offer any Win 11 online support for this hardware.

We understand that your HP Pavilion x360 - 14-dh1350ng is experiencing a persistent issue where the touchpad is non-functional, and Device Manager reports a Code 10 error for the I2C HID Device. We also appreciate the troubleshooting steps you’ve already performed, including verifying hardware functionality in BIOS.
Step 1: Uninstall and Reinstall I2C HID and Input Drivers
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Human Interface Devices
- Right-click I2C HID Device → Uninstall device
(Check “Delete the driver software for this device” if prompted) - Also, uninstall the HID-compliant touchpad if listed
- Click View > Show Hidden Devices and remove any leftover/greyed-out entries
- Restart the system
Step 2: Install Compatible Windows 10 Driver (Manually)
Since HP provides only Windows 10 drivers, you may manually install the most stable driver:
🔗 Download from HP: HP Pavilion x360 - 14-dh1350ng Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
- Select OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Under Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices, download the:
- Synaptics SMBus TouchPad Driver
or - ELAN Input Driver, depending on your device hardware
- Synaptics SMBus TouchPad Driver
These drivers are designed and validated for your device and may restore full functionality on Windows 11, though this is not guaranteed.
Step 3: Reinstall Intel Serial IO Drivers (Required for I2C Communication)
- Under the same Windows 10 driver page, locate the Intel Serial IO Driver
- Install and restart
This driver enables I2C communication between the operating system and the touchpad controller. If it is missing or incompatible, the touchpad cannot function.

Hi VikramTheGreat,
many thanks for your respond and the detailed described proposed solution. As of yesterday, the touchpad is suddenly working again. No clue why!! The warning indication next to the device driver is gone - will see how long the functionality will last this time.
Therefore, I'm currently unable to check out the proposed solution right of now, As soon as the malfunction appears again, I'll apply the proposed fix and provide feedback.

It’s great to hear that the touchpad is working again and that the driver warning is gone, even if it's a bit mysterious. Sometimes, a background Windows update or automatic driver correction can restore functionality temporarily.
You're right to wait and observe. If the issue returns, the steps we've outlined earlier will still be relevant and safe to apply at that time.
