have HP Laptop - 15-bw519au and windows 10 64 bit version 22H2(version10.0.19045), my touchpad is not working and I can't see touchpad driver anywhere under mice and other pointing devices in device manager (even after enabling 'show hidden drivers' option).
It had Synaptics SMbus touchpad driver before but now its not showing anywhere and I am unable to find the correct driver, someone help me out please.

@TD103, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I understand how frustrating it is when your touchpad stops working and the driver disappears from Device Manager. Let’s work step-by-step to resolve this.

Use “Show Hidden Devices” & Scan for Hardware Changes

Open Device Manager (Windows + X → Device Manager).

In the View menu, select Show hidden devices.

Expand Mice and other pointing devices and Human Interface Devices — see if anything appears greyed out.

Right-click your computer name in Device Manager and choose Scan for hardware changes to force detection.

Install the Touchpad Driver from HP’s Official Site

Go to HP Support drivers page for your specific laptop model: HP Notebook 15-bw519au

Under “Driver – Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices” (or similar section), find the Synaptics or touchpad driver for Windows 10 64-bit and download it.

Install the driver, then reboot.

Check Windows Update / Optional Updates

Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.

Click Check for updates, then also look under Optional updates or Driver updates — sometimes Microsoft pushes the device drivers there.

Run HP Diagnostics / Hardware Test

HP provides hardware diagnostics tools — either via built-in diagnostics (press F2 during boot) or via HP Support Assistant.

Run a touchpad diagnostic to confirm if the touchpad hardware is intact.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
