After applying the Windows Update named "HP - System Hardware Update - 4/14/2025", the key combination to enter the greater than symbol (>) has changed on my Nordic keyboard . What is the new key combination I should use?

Hi @johnt28,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query—we're here to help you get back up and running.
It looks like the recent HP - System Hardware Update may have altered the key mapping for the greater than (>) symbol on your Nordic keyboard.
Possible Key Combinations
Try the following key combinations to input the > symbol:
- Shift + Fn + L – This has worked for some users with Nordic layouts.
- AltGr + L – If the > symbol is printed on the L key, this may work.
- AltGr + < – Some users have reported success with this combination.
Check Keyboard Layout Settings
Verify your keyboard settings by following these steps:
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region.
- Ensure your keyboard layout is correctly set to Nordic.
- Test the layout using the On-Screen Keyboard.
Additional Troubleshooting
If none of the key combinations work, consider remapping the keys using Microsoft PowerToys.
How to Remap Keys Using Microsoft PowerToys
1. Install PowerToys
- Download Microsoft PowerToys from:
- Install and launch the application.
2. Enable Keyboard Manager
- Open PowerToys and go to Keyboard Manager.
- Toggle Enable Keyboard Manager to ON.
3. Remap a Key
- Click Remap a key.
- Select the key you want to change.
- Choose the new key or shortcut you want to assign.
- Click OK to save changes.
4. Test Your Remapped Keys
- Open Notepad or another application to verify the changes.
Update: The software is now available for download.

I have verified that the keyboard layout is set to Nordic (Swedish). Below is a description of the results I get when typing your suggested key combinations:
Shift + Fn + L – The symbol "<" is typed
AltGr + L – Nothing happens
AltGr + < - The "<" symbol is printed on the same physical key as "L", so same behavior as AltGr + L, i.e., nothing happens
Other combinations I've tried:
Fn + Shift + L – The symbol "<" is typed (this used to work before the update, now I get same result as Shift + Fn + L)
Fn + AltGr + L – The symbol "|" is typed
Remapping the keys using power toys is not something I should have to do myself. Clearly, this is something that should be addressed with a BIOS update has was done with a related issue I had (which was fixed, thank you for that): https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Shift-HOME-on-keyboard-not-work...
