Hi.
I get the message from HP Support Assistant that I should update HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
I have downloaded the latest version SP158690 Version 10.8.0.0

It starts but after a while the installation stops without any information.
Do you have any idea how to solve this?

Thank you in advance.

/Robert

@RobbanEss,

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI resides in the \EFI\HP folder. The EFI is a hidden partition, meaning it doesn't have a volume (drive) letter, hence it is inaccessible.

Your EFI partition is probably 260 MB, and you can only see it in Disk Management.

To remove the current Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, you need to run command prompt to assign a letter to the EFI partition and delete the \EFI\HP folder.

But a removal of the existing Diagnostics UEFI may not resolve the issue. Your screenshot indicates the problem occurred in the pre-installation stage where the softpaq was being extracted.

I suppose you already downloaded the softpaq again and tried to run it.

HP released a slightly updated version 10.8.1.0. Try this one.

@RobbanEss, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If the installation of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI stops unexpectedly without providing any information, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check System Requirements: Ensure that your computer meets the system requirements for the latest version of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Verify compatibility with your operating system.

Verify the Integrity of the Downloaded File: Ensure the downloaded file is not corrupted. You may want to download the installation file again from the official HP website to ensure its integrity.

Remove Previous Versions: If you have an existing version of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI installed, try uninstalling it before installing the new version. Sometimes conflicts arise with previous installations.

Ensure Administrative Privileges: Confirm that you have administrative privileges to install software on your computer. Sometimes installations require elevated permissions.

Check for Disk Space: Confirm that there is sufficient disk space available on your computer to perform the installation.

Review Event Logs: Check Windows Event Viewer for any logs or errors that might give more detailed information about why the installation failed.

Temporary Disable Antivirus: Temporarily disable any antivirus or security software that might be interfering with the installation process.

Install via USB: Follow instructions provided to install HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI from a USB device, as it can be helpful when installations become stuck or fail through regular methods.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Garp_senchau
Thank you for reaching out.
Regarding the system requirements, I am pretty sure that my computer meets them. This is a two week old HP ZBook 8 G1i 16.

How do I uninstall the old version? I can't find it in the control panel.

Best Regards/
Robert
