Microsoft Windows 11

I have BIOS F.50. in my HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15‑eg0000 (45W37AV).  Now is available a new BIOS version F.51 Rev.A. Should I update or will I have problems with new version?  What's better in the new version? Τhank u

There's no telling what will happen.

The only way to find out is to update the BIOS and see.

But before you do that ask yourself this one question:

Is my notebook running fine?

If it is, and you are concerned that the update may cause issues, I wouldn't suggest updating the BIOS.

The next thing to do is to read the release notes which I have posted below:

support.hp.com/soar-attachment/147/col107672-ob-357078-1-ob-357078-1_sp168680_releasedoc.html

As you can see, the release notes indicate three important things:

1. The purpose of the update is routine...the lowest priority of how HP issues BIOS updates which are:

Routine, Recommended, and Critical.

So, the update is not that important, or HP would have elevated the purpose to Routine or Critical.

2. The actual BIOS update does this:  - Improves security of the UEFI code.

3. HP strongly recommends transitioning promptly to this updated BIOS version which supersedes all previous releases.

The 'which supersedes all previous releases' normally means that once you update the BIOS to that version, you can't go back to an older BIOS version.

So, if the update caused an issue with the PC that you didn't have before, you would have to wait and hope HP releases a subsequent update that fixes that problem.

Hopefully, with the information I have provided, you can now make an informed decision on what you want to do.
