I have an Elitebook 840 G3. I love this machine!
It came with Windows 7 installed on the SSD. However, an HP Windows 10 install CD was included.
I never upgraded to Windows 10 on this laptop. Can I install Windows 10 using the HP Windows 10 CD on a virgin SSD or do I have to install Windows 10 over Windows 7 on the original SSD?

Hi,
The best idea is to perform a clean install.
You can do this on the old SSD or a new one.
I would create a bootable USB drive directly from Microsoft and the use to install the OS. This way you will have the latest version of Windows 10. (the HP CDs will have a much older version.
If you install on old SSD, boot from the USB drive and choose custom install. Delete all partitions and install on unallocated space.
After installation allow Windows to completely update and it will find all the needed drivers.

If asked for a product code during installation, you can insert the Windows 7 product code.
Hope it helps,
David
