HP 2000
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi. A while ago a member of the community was very kind in helping me to find a software that allows to wipe out all files from my HP notebook (to be given away). Here is the link that was given to me:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/dban/

Now, since wiping out files will also erase the OS (right?) what I am unsure of is how to recover the OS that was factory-built-in the notebook. I do have the Windows key that came with the notebook. Yet Microsoft does not allow users to download software that came built-in. Any clues?  Many thanks.

Hello
So, if I understand correctly, you have thought before deleting everything!
Didn't we tell you what to do exactly?
If you try to download windows 7 from the microsoft site, indeed it does not work with an OEM version
If you haven't deleted anything yet, maybe you can still create the recovery kit
You mention an HP 2000, unfortunately the reference does not allow me to find the model, product probably removed from the hp support

therefore check the possibilities:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418

otherwise you will have to find an alternative site for a windows 7 iso
see this:

Windows ISO Downloader

The HeiDoc.net site offers the Windows ISO Downloader program which allows you to download all Windows ISOs and even download all Office ISOs directly from Microsoft's servers.
