Hi @digidoge,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Pavilion Aero 13 (13-bg0000) is a compact laptop, and as you noticed, it does not have a dedicated "Insert" key, which is common on larger keyboards or those with a numpad. Here are some ways you can handle the lack of an Insert key:
1. Use an Alternative Key Combination
Since the "Insert" key is not present on your laptop, you can try alternative methods or key combinations to simulate the Insert function:
- Function Key Combination:
- On some laptops, the Insert function might be accessible through a combination of the Fn key and another key. Since you mentioned Fn + E didn’t work and Fn + 0 isn’t an option due to the lack of a numpad, this method might not be available on this model.
2. Use On-Screen Keyboard
You can use the On-Screen Keyboard to access the Insert key:
- Open On-Screen Keyboard:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog, type osk, and press Enter.
- Find the Insert Key:
- The On-Screen Keyboard should display an "Insert" key, which you can click to simulate pressing the Insert key on a physical keyboard.
3. Remap a Key to Function as Insert
If you frequently need the Insert key, you can use a tool to remap a key on your keyboard to function as the Insert key:
Use SharpKeys:
- Download and install SharpKeys.
Remap the Key:
- Open SharpKeys, click on Add to create a new key mapping.
- Choose a key to remap (e.g., Caps Lock or another unused key) and map it to the "Insert" function.
- Click OK and then Write to Registry.
- Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Use Microsoft PowerToys:
- Download and install Microsoft PowerToys.
- Open PowerToys and go to the Keyboard Manager.
- Use the Remap a key feature to assign the Insert function to a different key.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
