Hello. I have been searching and searching for HP Protect Tools Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 with no luck at all. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and many of the forum posts suggest finding the 8.1 edition, which I can not. I use HP Protect Tools for the finger print reader on the workstation and Windows 10 does not have any built in software to work with it that I have found. The drivers are installed properly but no luck as many Windows forums suggest. I tried installing the Windows 7 version in compatability mode on Windows 10 and setup my finger prints as normal, rebooted and now the lock/login screen just freaks out and flashes on and off rapidly, making login impossible. After extensive troubleshooting over the past 3 days on trying to make login even slightly possible, I gave up and preformed a clean install again and installed the drivers I know worked. So far all of the system drivers install properly but HP Protect Tools seems to cause massive bugs within the system. Any suggestions or hopefully a link to a more up to date version of HP Protect Tools?

Hi:

I recommend you use the HP Client Security Manager software which supercedes the HP Protect Tools software.

That also has the program to enroll your fingerprint.

Here is the W10 version...

HP Client Security Manager provides enhanced Windows login and website single-sign-on capabilities. Security Manager is also the host for HP Client Security plugins, and therefore should be installed before other Client Security modules. This package is provided for supported models running a supported operating system.

HP Protect Tools is not compatable with Windows 10. This is because Windows Hello is built into the operating syste driver. The drvice manager will always missing this driver and is the only thing that will work but dows not support the Validty sensor is Windows Hello. So you will alway be missing this driver and Windows Hello will always be disabled. There is no workaround.
