HP Laptop 17-by1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I needed to reinstall Windows 10 on my HP laptop.  Afterwards when I go into Windows Update there is a “View optional updates” link.  When I click on that link, the Optional updates screen shows Drive Updates “Hewlett-Packard Development Company L.P. – Keyboard – Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard for HP Hotkey Support”.  I select the driver and then click on “Download and install” and Windows Update goes back into checking for updates.  The result is that the same optional update shows up.

What do I need to do to install the update or delete it from appearing in Windows Update?

Thanks!

Hi:

I had the same thing happen to me and all I can think of is that it was not for my model PC.

I tried like two or three times when I decided to give up on it.

Download and run the Hide Windows update utility from the link below.   Use the one for version 1607 and later.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-rei...

The update should appear on the list.  Check the box to hide the update, and it should not appear again.

If you do want hidden updates to appear again, you run the utility and uncheck the hidden updates.
