How do I find out if my win7 laptop can be upgraded to win10?

Hi:

HP does not support that model series for W10.

The only way you are going to find the answer to that question is to install W10 and see how it works.

Try it before you buy it.

Do you have a way to reinstall W7, if W10 doesn't work out for you?

There is a way to go back to W7 if you don't like W10, but I would not bet my life on it 100% working.

Here is how to go back to W7 from W10.  You need to do it within 30 days.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027936/windows-10-go-back-to-windows-7-or-windows-81

I would make a system image of your current installation by using this free software at the link below.

That way if the above method doesn't work to go back to W7, you can restore from the image you created.

Save the image to a portable hard drive, and the software will also have you make a bootable DVD or USB flash drive which you access the system image with.

Now, here is how you can try W10 without buying it and you should have 30 days to play with it before you need to buy a key.

Click on the blue Update Now button at the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option and W10 will install.

Some folks have gotten lucky and W10 activates for free, even though the free upgrade period ended in July of 2016.

If it doesn't activate, and you want to keep W10, then you will need to purchase a product key which I think costs $129 for W10 Home.
