HP Notebook - 17-bs020cy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.71 GHz is not compatible with Windows 11, as many know.  We have 3 such processors, one of which is on a new unused laptop.  Is there a SAFE and reliable workaround?  an upgrade to the processor, which is of course newer and better than lesser processors that are compatible with 11.   Won't go into their motives, but would appreciate a reliable suggestion.  Many thanks.

You're very welcome.

Notebook processors in that model series and in most notebooks made in the last 7 years or so, are integral parts of the motherboard and cannot be removed or replaced.

You would have to install a new motherboard that comes with an Intel 8th gen core processor and according to chapter 3 of the service manual, no 17-bxxx notebook model came with a motherboard with an Intel 8th gen core processor.

So, upgrading the processor is not an option.

MANY thanks!  At the risk of being piggish and needy, might you tell me what 8 would be compatible and if a novice can do this?  Thanks again!  Kind regards...
