Windows 11 update, now no Wifi Dr

Hello, since the Windows 11 update, I have no WIFI driver and HP do not offer one for my laptop - HP- laptop 15s-fq1nsx.  Can anyone help please as I don't want to replace my laptop.

I understand your HP Laptop 15s-fq1nsx lost Wi-Fi functionality after a Windows 11 update, and you can’t find a Wi-Fi driver from HP for your model. Let’s go through a few steps to get your wireless working again.

Check Device Manager for Wi-Fi Adapter

Press Win + X → Device Manager → Network adapters.

If your Wi-Fi adapter is missing or listed under Other devices, it means the driver isn’t installed.

Enable Hidden Devices

In Device Manager, click View → Show hidden devices.

Sometimes the adapter is present but disabled. Right-click and choose Enable device if available.

Try Microsoft’s Generic Driver

Right-click the Wi-Fi adapter (or unknown device) → Update driver → Browse my computer → Let me pick from a list.

Select Microsoft → Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter or a compatible option to test.

Install Windows Update Optional Drivers

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Advanced options → Optional updates.

Check if a Wi-Fi/Network driver is listed—install it if available.

Download the Driver from the Chipset Vendor

Most HP laptops use Realtek, Intel, or Qualcomm Wi-Fi adapters.

In Device Manager, check Hardware IDs (right-click adapter → Properties → Details → Hardware Ids).

Based on that, download the latest Windows 11 driver directly from the vendor’s site:

Intel Wireless Drivers

Realtek Wireless Drivers

Qualcomm Atheros Drivers

Use HP Support Assistant

Open HP Support Assistant and check for updates—it may pull in the missing driver even if it’s not on the public downloads page.

Temporarily Use an Ethernet/USB Wi-Fi Dongle

If you can’t connect at all, use an Ethernet cable or USB Wi-Fi adapter to get online and install the correct driver.
