G42-351TX
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My system crashed and I need to re-install "Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit ISO for G42-351TX".

The links provided by HP point to Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows7

When I apply the product key that came with Laptop (can be seen on the label provided at the bottom of the Laptop), I get to see an Error:-

Error

The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options.

Pondering where to go now?

If you can read the 25 character Microsoft Windows 7 license key, you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD or USB flash drive.

You can use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to convert the ISO file you download. Link and instructions below. You need a  DVD+R or DVD -R . Or a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method.

Use the 25 character key on the COA to activate the installation.

Next go to your support and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Thanks.

But I see several such links to different websites, I am hesitant to use them as they are neither from HP or are from Microsoft direct.

Since this is a legal version, I would rather expect such to be available from direct parties involved (HP or Microsoft).

Is is not?

Sorry, but not available from either. As you found out MS will not accept your OEM key to allow download. HP does not offer an ISO of Windows. They do sell HP Recovery Media for a few yrs after a model is released.

Btw, you could call HP to see if the Recovery Media is still available to purchase>> Contact HP

I contacted the HP "Contact HP" from the contact center.

Was told no recovery media available, and that I will have to personnally go there to get the OS reflashed.

Looks like this would be the only option.

The earlier link you provided, http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-7-all-in-one-iso-free-download/, how can I be sure that the OS is not rejigged and that it is same as that provided by Microsoft?
