I downloaded a "Patch Update" from the Cyberlink website for my Youcam 6 (which came as OEM preinstalled on my HP Envy system). Now I cannot open YouCam at all and get a window telling me that "Cyberlink YouCam exec has stopped working" and to send an Error Report to Cyberlink. *They have done nothing and claim in an email that because I have an OEM version of YouCam 6, it Can't be updated with their Retail version update!!!!! Well, the update took place alright, and now the YouCam won't work. **One box appeared saying i "the other version is currently running" or "i must disable Face Off (which i never enabled in the first place!). They said to open YouCam etc. but I cannot even open it now to even adjust settings! Please help! CYBERLINK CORP IS A TOTAL JOKE/SCAM AND WANT TO CHARGE ME TO FIX YouCam because THEIR OWN UPGRADE IS NOT EVEN COMPATIBLE WITH THEIR OWN PRODUCT. They are horrible ripoffs/a sham!

@Skunkcabbage, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.
Why did you update the youcam software from Softonic's?
If you wanted to update the youcam software you could have checked for the updates from the youcam application itself or from HP support assistant.
Since you downloaded the software directly from the website and since your PC is not registered with Softonic's you are getting a trial version of the software.
If you want to use the full version of software on your PC. Uninstall youcam software from control panel programs on your PC.
And install the program from HP recovery manager and check for updates for installing the latest version of the software.
Hope this answers your query!
Have a pleasant day ahead! 🙂

Hi MrRobot,
Thanks for your response. I actually did uninstall the Youcam 6 yesterday, then i downloaded a "30 day Trial version" of Youcam 7 from Softonics! Obviously, after 30 days the Youcam 7 will lose all it's features/benefits, but will remain as a basic Youcam! What do you think I should do? I actually went into recovery manager and redownloaded the Youcam 6 App successfully, but after reboot the 7,0 only shows on my system. Should i uninstall Youcam 7 as well then redownload the 6.0 App? (not very tech savvy here as you can tell). I'm basically afraid to do anything at this point without proper instruction or i'll end up with no Youcam at all! lol Considering I paid $1,200 for this sytem and the 6.0 App came preinstalled, i'll be damned if i'm gonna pay Cyberlink to reinstall it!
Thanks,
Skunk

Okay, I uninstalled Youcam 7, rebooted, then downloaded the Youcam 6 App from the recovery manger successfully. Restarted, but i can't find the Youcam anywhere (it shows in programs/features)? Shouldn't I have to actually install/run it now? I thought a window would pop up or something asking me to accept and install etc?
