Hello everyone,

I have some hidden unknown drivers and i want to update it and make the laptop detect it. I used HIPA and intel driver & support and install all drivers from hp web for the laptop drivers and all is updated and even with windows update. heres the photos with HW IDs. latest windows 11.

Thank you,

Seeing hidden devices with no error flags in Device Manager is completely normal. Windows intentionally hides non-present hardware (such as previously plugged-in USB drives or phones), ghost drivers, and specialized internal system drivers that are not actively in use or currently connected.
Why Hidden Devices Appear

  • Phantom/Non-Present Devices: Hardware that was plugged in before (like a mouse, printer, or USB drive) leaves behind grayed-out registry entries and driver profiles.
  • Virtual or Emulated Hardware: Software like VPNs, hypervisors, or phone links install virtual adapters that remain hidden until toggled on.
  • NoDisplayClass Drivers: Setup classes like system printers or non-Plug-and-Play drivers are hidden by design to reduce clutter.

What You Should Do

  • Leave Them Alone: If a device is faded or grayed out and shows no yellow warning triangles or error codes, it is not broken or hurting your system.
  • Avoid Deleting Drivers: As users on Super User point out, removing non-present hardware drivers provides no performance benefit and can occasionally cause stability issues if Windows or an app tries to recreate them.
  • Clean Up Only if Needed: If an old piece of hardware permanently stopped working and you wish to clean the list, you can right-click the faded entry and select Uninstall device, though it is generally safer to leave untouched entries alone.

Go here to search for unknown devices when you know the vendor and device ID.
