Hi @Ashok58,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the backlight on your Victus By HP 16.1 laptop. There could be several reasons why the backlight is not working. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to identify and possibly resolve the problem.

  • Check the brightness settings: Make sure that the brightness level is not set to the lowest setting or completely turned off. Look for the function keys on your keyboard (usually marked with a sun icon) to adjust the brightness. Press the corresponding key combination (e.g., Fn + F3/F4) to increase or decrease the brightness.
  • Try restarting your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor software glitches or conflicts that might be causing the backlight issue.
  • Update the graphics driver: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can sometimes lead to display-related problems. Visit the official HP support website and download the latest graphics driver for your laptop model. Install it and see if the backlight starts working.
  • Check the BIOS settings: Some laptops have BIOS settings that allow you to control the backlight behavior. Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS settings (usually by pressing a key like F2 or Delete during boot). Look for any backlight-related options and ensure they are correctly configured.
  • Inspect the physical connections: In some cases, the backlight cable might be loose or disconnected. However, it's essential to note that opening your laptop to check the connections might void the warranty. If your laptop is still under warranty, consider contacting HP support or an authorized service center for assistance.
  • Run a hardware diagnostic test: Many laptops come with built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify hardware issues. Check the HP support website or user manual for instructions on how to run a hardware diagnostic test.
  • External display test: Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an appropriate cable. If the external display shows a backlight, it may indicate an issue with your laptop's internal display or components.
  • Check for Windows updates: Sometimes, operating system updates can resolve hardware-related problems. Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
