bytefence has just popped up on my laptop should i get rid of it ?

Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.

 

This usually installs with Java updates/installations if you didn't pay attention and used default installation.

 

Please, go to Control Panel > Programs and featues.

 

Find Bytefence there and select it, uninstall it. Restart the computer after restart.

 

Also, download AdwCleaner from Malwarebytes and run it to scan for any spyware/adware >> https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
