My camera stopped working so i checked the device drivers and the camera driver is not there. I can’t find it even when i look for hidden items, i looked through all of the folders it could be in. I tried installing legacy drivers and when i click the camera it sends me to click the model but there is nothing there, it’s a blank text box. I tried microsoft support and they said to come to HP since it’s a driver issue

Hi @Christian0711,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand how it must be to have your camera suddenly stop working, especially when the driver doesn’t even appear in Device Manager.
Could you please share your exact HP laptop or desktop model number?
In the meantime, here are few steps you can try :
1.Run Windows Hardware Scan
Windows can sometimes detect missing drivers automatically.
Press Win + I → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters → Camera
Run the Camera troubleshooter
Follow on-screen instructions to reinstall or repair the driver
2.Check Windows Update
HP camera drivers are often bundled with Windows updates.
Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update
Click Check for updates
Install all pending updates
Restart your PC after installation
3.Install HP Support Assistant
HP’s tool can automatically detect and install missing drivers.
Download from HP’s official website: HP Support Assistant
Install and open the app
Run a full system scan
Apply recommended driver updates
4.Manually Reinstall Camera Driver
If automatic tools don’t work, you can install the driver manually.
Visit HP Drivers & Downloads https://support.hp.com/ → Enter your model number
Locate the Camera/Imaging device driver
Download and install it
Restart your PC after installation
I hope this helps.
I'm an HP Employee.

@Deep_World Hey there, thanks for the tips. Unfortunately I have already tried all of these and even had a windows employee try to help me by taking control of my laptop remotely but there was nothing that we would figure out. My device is the HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14m-dh0xxx . I just checked right now and it the camera driver actually just came back randomly. Thank you for replying to my issue.
