Microsoft Windows 11

My camera is not working. I tried uninstalling it from Device Manager as suggested online, but it didn’t help. I also tried resetting the camera, but that didn’t work either.

Whenever I click on the Camera app in Windows, it immediately closes and I can’t see anything. The camera never turns on at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

@5CD2509CQ6, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Camera Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your camera is not working and the app closes immediately without turning on, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Privacy Settings: Ensure that app permissions are correctly set. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera. Make sure that "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on, and verify that the specific app you are trying to use has permission to access the camera.

Update Camera Drivers: Even though you tried uninstalling, it might be helpful to check for updates. Go to Device Manager, locate your camera under "Imaging devices", right-click, and select Update driver. Choose to search automatically for updated driver software.

Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, installing the latest Windows updates can resolve device issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Reset the Camera App:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
  • Find the Camera app.
  • Click on it and select Advanced options.
  • Choose Reset.

Test Camera in Other Apps: If possible, try using your camera in other applications to see if the issue is app-specific. If it works in another application, the problem may be with the Camera app.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
