HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 24-ca1000a (4N402AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I keep getting a message about a critical driver update and it is impossible to install it. I have tried numerous times, looked throughout the HP website and can find no answer. My system is windows 11. I saw something that said the update won't work on that version. Is that true? What can be done? Will the computer crash and burn?

Hi @Deb459,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can feel how frustrating it must be to see a “critical driver update” message on your HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 24-ca1000a (4N402AV), especially when it refuses to install, and you're left wondering if your system is at risk. Let's walk through this together.

What You Can Do

1. Check for the Latest Drivers Manually

Visit HP’s official driver page for your model: 👉 HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 24-ca1000a (4N402AV) | HP® Support

  • Select your exact Windows 11 version (e.g., 21H2, 22H2, or 23H2).
  • Download and install any updated chipset, graphics, or BIOS drivers manually.

2. Use HP Support Assistant’s “Diagnose & Fix”

  • Open HP Support Assistant from your Start menu.
  • Go to My Devices > Updates > Check for Updates.
  • If the update fails, click “Troubleshooting and Fixes” > “Diagnose & Fix”.

3. Disable BitLocker (if enabled)

Some BIOS updates won’t install if BitLocker is active:

  • Go to Control Panel > System and Security > BitLocker Drive Encryption
  • Click Turn off BitLocker for your system drive
  • Retry the update

4. Try installing via USB (for BIOS updates)

If it’s a BIOS update that’s failing:

  • Download the BIOS update utility from HP’s site
  • Create a BIOS recovery USB using HP’s instructions
  • Boot from the USB and follow the on-screen prompts

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
