Hi @raiyanyo21,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If the keyboard backlight is not working on your HP PC, here are the most effective steps to troubleshoot it:
1. Confirm Your Keyboard Supports Backlighting
Not all HP desktop keyboards have backlight functionality. Please check:
- The model number of your keyboard.
- Look for a backlight icon (usually on the F5, F4, or Spacebar key).
- If there’s no icon, it may not support backlighting.
2. Use the Correct Key Combination
If your keyboard supports backlighting:
- Try pressing Fn + F5, Fn + F4, or Fn + Spacebar.
- Press the key multiple times to cycle through brightness levels.
Some keyboards require the Fn key to activate the backlight toggle.
3. Check Windows Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Typing.
- Look for Keyboard backlight settings (if available).
- Adjust brightness or timeout settings.
4. Update Keyboard Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
- Expand Keyboards.
- Right-click your keyboard and choose Update driver.
- Restart your PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
