got an email from HP warning me of a critical security issue. is this true? seems odd hp would email me.  any link to genuine hp critical security bulletins? thanks.

It is an official HP bulletin- and yes, it has been patched by an update:

HP does at times email owners of HP machines if you registered it and they have your email as part of that registration. What was the security bulletin in reference to?

Description: HPSBGN03561 - HP Support Assistant Potential Escalation of Privilege

and unauthorized modification of directories or files".  also said ,"Notice:: The information in this security bulletin should be acted upon as soon as possible."

 

upon reading the notice more carefully, it seems hp has fixed the problem. thanks.
