Hi @wanyamak,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To download and install the fingerprint driver for your HP notebook, we'll first need to identify the exact model of your device, as different HP notebooks use different fingerprint readers and drivers.

In the meantime, you can try the following:

Check if the Fingerprint Reader is Detected

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager
  2. Expand Biometric Devices
  3. If you see a fingerprint sensor listed, right-click it and select Update Driver
  4. If there is no Biometric Devices category, check under Other Devices for any unknown devices with a yellow warning icon.

Download the Driver from HP Support

  1. Visit the HP Support page: Official HP® Support
  2. Enter your notebook's exact model number.
  3. Select your operating system.
  4. Download and install the Fingerprint Driver and Chipset Driver if available.
  5. Restart the notebook after installation.

Enable Fingerprint Sign-in

After installing the driver:

  1. Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options
  2. Select Fingerprint Recognition (Windows Hello)
  3. Follow the prompts to enroll your fingerprint.

Please let us know the exact HP notebook model number and the version of Windows you're using (Windows 10 or Windows 11). We can then provide the correct driver and installation steps for your specific device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
