HP Stream Notebook - 11-r014wm (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 11

I am trying to download the app called Design Space for Cricut. I wants to load but I get an error message that says MAY BE A CONFLICTING CONFIGURATION. I did contact someone at Cricut Design but they could not fix the issue.

@Rose267, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "MAY BE A CONFLICTING CONFIGURATION" when trying to install Cricut Design Space on your HP Stream Notebook 11-r014wm with Windows 11 could be caused by several issues, including compatibility, Windows security settings, or system limitations.

Steps to Fix the Issue:

Check System Requirements

HP Stream laptops have limited storage and processing power. Ensure your device meets the minimum requirements for Cricut Design Space:
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
4GB RAM or more (HP Stream laptops often have only 2GB, which may cause issues)
At least 2GB free storage (HP Stream models have limited storage, so clear space if needed)
Stable internet connection

Run Cricut Design Space as Administrator

  1. Right-click the Cricut Design Space installer (.exe) file.
  2. Select Run as administrator.
  3. Follow the installation steps and see if it completes successfully.

Install Windows 10 Instead of Windows 11 (If Applicable)

Your HP Stream 11-r014wm was originally designed for Windows 10, and Windows 11 may cause compatibility issues due to limited resources. If nothing else works, you may need to downgrade to Windows 10.

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install all available updates.
  3. Restart the PC and try installing the app again.

Use Compatibility Mode

  • Right-click the Cricut Design Space installer.
  • Click Properties > Compatibility.
  • Check Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 10.
  • Click Apply and OK, then try running the installer again.

Disable Windows Defender or Third-Party Antivirus

  • Open Windows Security.
  • Go to Virus & Threat Protection > Manage settings.
  • Temporarily turn off Real-time Protection.
  • Try installing the app again.

Check Storage and Free Up Space

  1. Since HP Stream 11 has very limited storage (32GB or 64GB), check for free space:
  2. Open File Explorer > This PC.
  3. Ensure you have at least 2GB of free storage.
  4. Delete unnecessary files or move data to an external USB or cloud storage.

Install Cricut Design Space in Safe Mode

  1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  2. Go to the Boot tab and check Safe boot > Network.
  3. Click Apply and OK, then restart the PC.
  4. Try installing Cricut Design Space.
  5. If successful, go back to msconfig and uncheck Safe boot to restart normally.

Manually Install via Microsoft Store

  • Try downloading Cricut Design Space from the Microsoft Store instead of the website:
  • Open Microsoft Store.
  • Search for Cricut Design Space.
  • Click Install.

If none of the above work, consider installing Cricut Design Space on a different Windows 10/11 PC or a tablet/smartphone that meets the requirements.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
