@GP06, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

If your HP ENVY x360 laptop is showing a “Camera is blocked” error, it’s usually due to privacy settings, a physical shutter, or Windows permissions. Here are the steps to resolve it:

Check for Physical Camera Shutter

Some HP ENVY x360 models have a camera privacy shutter or kill switch on the side or top edge of the laptop.

  • Look for a slider or button near the webcam.
  • Slide or press it to unblock the camera.

Enable Camera in Windows Settings

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Camera.
  3. Make sure Camera access is turned ON for both:
    • Device access
    • Apps access
  4. Scroll down and ensure the app you're using (e.g., Zoom, Teams) has permission.

Check HP Privacy App (if installed)

Some HP laptops come with HP Privacy Camera software:

  • Search for HP Privacy Camera in the Start menu.
  • Open the app and disable privacy mode if enabled.

Update Camera Driver

  1. Right-click Start > Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  3. Right-click your camera > Update driver > Search automatically.
  4. If no update is found, visit HP support site: Official HP® Support

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Use HP’s built-in diagnostics to test the camera:

  • Press Esc during startup > F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Camera Test under Component Tests.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
